Guys, I was so lucky to get to photograph Katie & Cooper’s wedding. These two are the dictionary definition of effortless love! They understand each other so completely, and they know how to lift each other up, even by just a simple smile. And they’re just plain fun to be around :)
I first worked with Katie & Cooper during their engagement photos last year. Since then, I’ve been so excited to work with them to put the finishing touches on their wedding day. Which is right around the time they moved away to Columbus, Ohio, for Cooper’s job. But no worries; we planned from afar and the day came together simply beautifully…
…except for the weather! Katie & Cooper purposefully planned an early November wedding so they wouldn’t have a winter wedding. But Mother Nature had other plans. On their wedding day, it was cold (below freezing!), windy, and even snowy! (Seriously, there are little snowflakes caught mid-air in Katie & Cooper’s first look photos. (Hey, I’ll take snow any day over rain!)
Another great thing about these two is how flexible they are. We knew that we wanted some photos outside on the Thompson Barn’s beautiful property, despite the yucky weather. So we devised a plan: During their portraits, we dashed outside for 10 minutes, then took more photos inside for 15 minutes. Then back outside and back inside. We even devised our wedding party game plan inside ahead of time so we could spend as little time as possible in the frigid wind. It was still darn cold, but we made the best of it! The best part? Katie & Cooper are snuggling extra close in their portraits outside.
Katie & Cooper’s entire wedding took place at the Thompson Barn in Lenexa, Kansas. They were drawn to the venue’s historic beauty and gorgeous vaulted ceiling. The entire wedding party got ready at Thompson Barn (in separate rooms so as not to ruin their first look!) which made the day feel genuinely relaxed and focused on the reason we were all there: to marry these two lovebirds!
Below are some of my favorite moments throughout Katie & Cooper’s amazing wedding day. I loved getting to capture everything from dance parties in the girls’ suite, to shared laughs with Katie & her father on the dance floor, and everything in between!
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Rodman!
I wish you decades of love, laughs, and supreme happiness!!
