In late October, some of my favorite KC families gathered together for my annual fall mini sessions! I like to offer mini sessions at least once a year because I want to make photography as convenient and accessible as possible. Time can truly fly by when you’re busy raising a family, or climbing that corporate ladder, and it can be easy to tell yourself, “Oh, we’ll get those done next year.” Then suddenly a few years fly by and your newborn is headed off to kindergarten. Take the time to invest in capturing these priceless moments together before they slip away!
This loving family welcomed their newest member Everett in August! Big sis Emmett has a lot to teach Everett, and I hope that her sweet smile and awesome dance moves are at the top of list. I just loved getting to break these four out into smaller photos (daddy-daughter, mother-son, just the kiddos, etc.) to let their unique relationships and personalities shine through. And I still melt every time I see Emmett giving eskimo kisses to her dad!
The Heflin Sisters
Meet Trinity and Teigan! These sisters are just the cutest, don’t you think? Their mom put together the most adorable coordinating outfits. I’ll take both in my size, please!
Teigan and Trinity were absolutely obsessed with the giant robot dinosaur perched outside Union Station, which they could see it outside our window. Their eyes lit up the first time they saw it roar! After that, we had a blast taking turns roaring at each other. When working with little kiddos, I play a game with myself to see how quickly I can get them to warm up to me. With Teigan, Trinity, and my mutual love for dinosaurs, the three of us were fast friends :)
The Armstrongs & Pianaltos
That’s right, this year I took my own family’s photos as well! (Thank goodness for timers and tripods.) My parents and my brother Benny all joined me for my last session of the day to capture a few photos. We haven’t taken professional photos together since my wedding 4 years ago! As a photographer, I’m setting a horrible example :( Hopefully these photos will spark a tradition and we’ll get more photos together in the years to come!
The Sutera Family
The sweet Sutera family contacted me in November for a mini session while they were in Kansas City! I jumped at the chance to photograph them under the Nelson’s very last fall leaves. (They literally all fell the day after these photos were taken!) We had a chilly afternoon on our hands, and rain was threatening to cancel our session, but these four were absolute troopers and we powered on!
Thank you to these families (and to all of my 2018 clients!) for opening their hearts to me and trusting me to capture these important life moments.
I am so lucky to get to do what I love and I’m grateful to you for helping me make my dream come true.
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!
