Last week I joined the Davenports for what we didn’t realize would be our last day of fall in 2018! Literally the day after these photos were taken it snowed here in Kansas City. Can you believe it?
This is my second year capturing the Davenport’s family photos, and I so love the tradition we’re creating. Last year, I chose the location - the Nelson-Atkins Museum (who’s surprised I chose that?) This year the Davenports introduced me to a gem of a place, the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center. This center is located just east of the Plaza and is rich with beautiful backdrops. (If it’s this pretty at the tail end of fall, imagine how gorgeous it is in the spring!)
This place is special to the Davenports. They spend a lot of family time here, both inside the center and walking its grounds. I wanted to capture some of that adventuresome spirit so I made sure to mix more candid moments in with their more posed/polished family portraits. I love the blend!
One of my favorite things we did this year was trying to recreate one of Madeline and Josh’s favorite photos from last year. I included the side-by-side for comparison! Pretty soon Madeline won’t fit up on Josh’s shoulder and we’ll have to think of a new pose to recreate!
I absolutely love that the Davenports take time each year to capture such sweet memories, and I’m so glad that I get to be a part of the fun! Cheers to another great year!
