Congratulations to the newest Mrs. & Mr. Kaetlin & Josh Hermes!!
Kaetlin & Josh have been friends since junior high school, but it wasn’t until Kaetlin was a freshman and Josh was a sophomore that she started thinking there could be something more. Kaetlin thinks it was all of Josh’s 1st chair trombone solos in jazz band that did the trick. One day while Josh was playing, Kaetlin leaned over to a friend and whispered, “I’m going to marry him someday.” Her friend replied, “Does he know that?” Neither of them did at the time.
Kaetlin & Josh remained friends throughout high school, both participating in music and drum line together and looking out for each other. When Josh was on crutches after foot surgery, Kaetlin helped him carry things onstage at band clinics. When Kaetlin almost broke her bass drum during a drum line competition, Josh left the formation to help her fix it and avoid more humiliation. This solid foundation of friendship shows when you see these two together, and it’s clear it’ll help them through the tough times they’ll experience in marriage.
In the fall of 2018, Kaetlin was hard at work finishing up her last semester of Nursing School in Hays, KS, while Josh was student teaching in Goddard, KS, about 3 hours away. Because of their busy schedules, it was lucky if they got to see each other once or twice a month. When Josh was ready to propose to Kaetlin, he knew he wanted to do it in Hays where they both shared so many happy memories together.
Kaetlin & Josh’s wedding took place in their hometown of Hutchinson, Kansas. They were both jittery with nerves and excitement before seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle at their wedding ceremony. Afterwards, we headed to Carey Park for wedding party photos before the reception. The DJ kept the dance floor busy all night long, but we managed to sneak away with Kaetlin’s dad’s 1975 Corvette for a quiet moment the countryside for some fantastic sunset portraits :) Scroll down to see some of my favorite images from the day!
And be sure to check out their gorgeous winter engagement session too!
