Meet Kathleen & Matt, one tremendously wonderful couple! These two are beautiful inside and out (if you can't tell from their glowing smiles and effortless chemistry on camera).
Kathleen & Matt met at KU when they were both studying architecture. Matt jokes that Kathleen was the smarter of the two because she switched focuses to teaching, and now teaches 5th grade. Matt works for an architectural firm here in Kansas City.
What struck me about this couple when we first met was how well they worked together. Our first encounter was over drinks for a couple of hours, but I could tell right from the beginning that they are a true team from the way they worked out their plan to have a portion of their engagement session on the KU campus, where it all began :)
Now, let's talk about another fantastic thing about this dynamic duo: They are so incredibly easygoing! The day of their engagement session, Friday the 13th (how did we not see this coming??), promised unpredictable weather from high winds to rain to a tornado warning! Kathleen and I texted back and forth all morning to determine the best course of action and in the end we decided to power through and think sunny thoughts.
It totally worked! For the most part. The rains held off in Lawrence where we started our session. As we drove into KC for our second stop in the Crossroads the clouds crept in. We mentally kept them at bay, though, until our very last stop atop a parking garage. Not an ideal place to be when lightning is in the area! We decided to seek shelter and head to our final stop, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, early.
Just as we were walking out of the parking garage at the Nelson, the clouds miraculously parted and gave way to faint sunshine! Kathleen & Matt's perseverance was paying off. They'd brought an adorable umbrella with them; and, feeling inspired by our luck with the weather and the Nelson's puddly sidewalks, we decided to have a little fun with it.
I was repeatedly impressed by how relaxed both Kathleen & Matt were throughout this crazy day. Not once did they complain or seem down about the weather. They took each new obstacle with stride and it completely paid off. And don't even get me started on how great Kathleen is at twirling and Matt is at dipping! I loved my engagement session with them for the adventures and obstacles we endured together. I'm so excited to see what their wedding has in store!
Kathleen & Matt chose Marvin and Snow Halls, along with the Campanile, for the locations of their Lawrence photos. These are the two main architectural halls where they took their earliest classes together. I'd researched both locations ahead of time and was so impressed by Marvin Hall's latest auditorium addition. I was ecstatic when Matt said we could photograph inside there!
Congratulations to Kathleen & Matt on your engagement! I am looking forward to even more magical moments at your wedding!!
