Meet Kayla & Austin, some of the chillest lovebirds I know!
These two met online waaaay back in 2017. (I love how 2017 is considered so long ago these days.) Ever the planner, Kayla asked a friend to check in with her during their first date in case it wasn’t going well. The friend checked in 2 hours into the date, but Kayla certainly wasn’t ready for it to be over. In fact, Kayla & Austin’s first date at O’Dowd’s lasted over 4 hours!
When we sat down to plan Kayla & Austin’s engagement session, we agreed that their locations should be relaxed, casual, and fun, just like their date nights. For our first stop, we visited Brewery Emperial in the Crossroads to grab a drink and enjoy their expansive patio. Mother Nature had other plans and she sent us running inside within the first 15 minutes! But don’t worry, Mother Nature helps us out later ;) And I just love the intimate images we captured inside Brewery Emperial’s cozy, eclectic space.
After we finished our drinks, we ventured back outside into the slightly damper Crossroads for a quick stroll before heading to Union Station. By this point we were experiencing an actual down pour but this somehow drove everyone away from Union Station! When we arrived in the lobby, I was positively giddy with excitement at how empty the space was. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so few people walking the grand halls of Union Station! We used the space to our full advantage and captured some AMAZING images that I don’t think would ever be possible otherwise!
The day we photographed Kayla & Austin’s engagement session was actually their backup date. We’d already postponed once for terrible rainy weather, so we decided that we were just going to roll with it on our reschedule date. I’m so very glad we did because it let us capture beautiful and unique images that you wouldn’t normally get to capture in Kansas City!
Congratulations to Kayla & Austin!
2020 can’t get here soon enough!
