A few weekends ago, Marlee & Andrew were married during a beautiful Loose Park ceremony followed by a joyful reception at Boulevard Brewing Co.
I had the pleasure of meeting Marlee & Andrew over a year ago when we sat down at Boulevard’s then-new beer hall to discuss their vision for their big day. All of our planning meetings were at Boulevard, come to think of it. These two love Boulevard so much that they wanted to have their reception there. And why wouldn’t they? It’s the perfect Kansas City venue. Not only are you supporting a Kansas City institution, and drinking a variety of delicious beers, but you have fantastic views of the downtown KC skyline right from your private terrace.
Marlee & Andrew’s wedding day threw them plenty of curve balls, mostly due to unexpected downpours throughout the day, but these two remained steadfastly focused on what was most important: starting a lifetime together. I was so impressed by how little Marlee sweated the small (and big) stuff. We didn’t get to photograph at either of their chosen locations for their portraits or wedding party photos. The rain-soaked sidewalks dirtied her dress. The humidity drooped hairstyles. So we moved to backup locations that kept the party out of the rain (and still got some great photos). We fixed hairstyles and we didn’t worry about the dress. through all the curve balls, Marlee & Andrew stayed positive and flexible.
I started the day visiting Marlee & Andrew’s home where Marlee and her bridesmaids got ready. I just love when brides get ready in their own homes! Not only is it logistically easier, but it creates these amazing, once-in-a-lifetime memories in a space that you already cherish and call home.
Originally, we’d planned to meet Andrew at the Kauffman Center for their first look. (You’ll notice these two animal lovers had a bonus first look with their fur babies!) The rain put a mild damper on those plans, but thankfully my covered backup location was just across the street! We were able to take all of our wedding party photos under the cover of the KC Convention Center’s massive pavilion, allowing us shelter from the rain and fantastic views of Kauffman. Win-win!
Marlee & Andrew’s wedding ceremony was at another classic Kansas City space, Loose Park. Marlee must have had a premonition that it’d rain on her wedding day because she decided early on to hold the ceremony in the pavilion, rather than the exposed rose garden. The pavilion turned out to be the perfect spot for their ceremony! So intimate and so beautiful with the lush greenery and calming raindrops surrounding Marlee & Andrew and their guests.
After a beautiful ceremony we headed to Boulevard’s Beer Hall for a quick drink with the wedding party before heading into the reception! I decided to ride along on the wedding party’s trolley and boy am I glad that I did! Some of my favorite photos from the day came out of those stolen moments driving between locations. And this bus knew how to party!
Marlee & Andrew’s reception featured a very special surprise guest, KC Wolf! Marlee & (especially) Andrew are massive Chiefs fans, so having KC Wolf at their reception was a big deal. This party animal kicked off the dance floor and joined the crowd in a massive group photo! He even danced so much with guests that he had to retire early for a breather.
Below are some of my favorite images that capture the fun and love that was the theme of Marlee & Andrew’s wedding day. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Myracle!!
A LOT of things about Marlee & Andrew’s wedding day blew me away. But probably the biggest thing was how much genuine love and care they have for each other, and for their friends and family. You can just tell by the way that Andrew looks at Marlee that she is the center of his universe and he would do anything to make her smile. Marlee has the deepest respect for Andrew, and would also do anything if it meant it’d put a smile on his face.
A huge congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Myracle! You two make the roller coaster that is life look so easy :)
