This year in Kansas City, we blinked and fall came and went! One day, the season’s best foliage erupted in explosions of spectacular color, then promptly disappeared under a bed of early snowfall.
Thank goodness Sarah & Scott had Halloween’s most powerful sorcerers on their side to keep the leaves looking their finest for their late October wedding day! Sarah has always pictured herself having a Halloween-themed wedding (a Hallo-wedding, perhaps?) and after Scott popped the question she was ready to make her vision a reality.
The pair wanted a simple, no-fuss wedding that was truly a celebration of love and closeness among friends and family. Their priorities were their wedding portraits, their family photos, and having a rad party with their favorite people. Check, check, and check.
To kick things off, we met at Shawnee Mission Park for a deliciously fall-tastic first look. Sarah & Scott were supernaturally excited to share their outfits with each other. Sarah opted for an on-theme black gown, paired perfectly with skeletal hair pins and glittery purple sneakers. Scott’s ensemble was a wonderful concoction blending classic gray trousers with black-and-white striped suspenders and an adorable orange bow tie.
After conjuring some gorgeous portraits for Sarah & Scott, we headed to Tomahawk Hills Golf Course for their ceremony and reception. Sarah gave life to her theme through every detail, complete with peeping eye balls on the altar! After the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed their spookily vegan BBQ, cut their cobwebby cake, and hit the dance floor with their costumed guests!
I felt so honored to be a part of this amazing day. This wedding will not be quickly forgotten by me, and not just because of everyone’s amazing costumes. (Scott’s mother dressed as Cruella De-Vil!) It’s because of the love that filled every cobwebbed corner of that wedding. Both Sarah & Scott’s families welcomed me with open arms the second I walked in the door. Every guest embraced the Hallo-wedding theme without question and honored Sarah & Scott’s celebration the way they wanted. What more could you ask for in friends on your wedding day?
Below are some of my absolute favorite photos (and costumes!) from Sarah & Scott’s big day!
Sarah & Scott, you’ve got some amazing friends and family that know how to take a fabulous theme and kick it up a notch! I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate the beginning of your marriage.
Thank you both for letting me be a part of such an amazing day!!!
