At the end of September the temperatures were finally cooling off, the leaves were just starting to consider turning, and Susan & Dan were heading to Lawrence, KS, to get married!
Susan & Dan are one of those couples that you just love being around. They’re both so kind-hearted and fun-loving. And their love and respect for each other runs deep. Throughout their entire wedding planning process, Dan was quick to praise Susan for all of her hard work and attention to detail; compliments that Susan reciprocated earnestly. When I first met Susan & Dan, they were in the middle (literally) of buying a new home. I don’t care who you are, buying a new home is a frazzling, distracting, and disorienting experience. It’s exciting but also the worst. But when we three sat down for a drink at Harry’s in Westport you’d think it was just any other Thursday night. Susan & Dan immediately brushed off the stresses of their day and dove into telling me about themselves and their plans for their wedding.
These two selected the Victorian Veranda Country Inn, located just outside Lawrence, for it’s gorgeous countryside setting and picturesque gardens. This venue perfectly complemented their vision for a rustic chic wedding, bringing just the right touch of country to their classic garden ceremony. Susan embraced rich fall gem tones in her color palette, incorporating deep reds and oranges in her bouquet and decor. Dan and the groomsmen’s gray suits were the perfect backdrop to let these colors really pop.
Everywhere we turned at the Victorian Veranda, we were greeted with gorgeous new scenes for Susan & Dan’s portraits! This place is seriously a photographic wonderland. After awhile I had to literally stop myself so we could tuck these two away before their wedding (you know, the reason we’re all here). As you scroll through these photos you’ll see just how much variety we achieved in Susan & Dan’s photos. I couldn’t have asked for a better day with the two of them :)
