My final engagement session for 2018 took place on the winter solstice, December 21. You might be thinking, “Bailey, what a strange detail to remember. Why?” Well, I remember it because we had the absolute best lighting all afternoon! On the winter solstice, the sun is low in the sky for the longest period of time. It was like we experienced golden hour for three hours! It. Was. Awesome.
So who is the lucky couple that got to experience three hours of golden, sun-kissed light?
Meet Kaetlin & Josh! These two lovebirds met in college many years ago. Life separated them, but in February their paths crossed again and they decided to reignite their relationship. By October they were engaged! Josh proposed to Kaetlin at their favorite gazebo with a box of photos capturing their favorite memories. I can only hope that these photos (and their wedding photos of course!) will be added to that box :)
Currently Kaetlin & Josh are living in separate cities while Kaetlin prepares for her move to Kansas City for her nursing career and Josh finishes up school. After they’re married, they will both call Kansas City home, which is why they wanted to take their engagement photos here! Josh is a music major, so of course we had to pay a visit to the Kauffman Center :) And because both Kaetlin & Josh are from western Kansas, the countryside holds a special place in their heart and they knew they wanted a more natural scene for their photos as well. I knew just the place - Burr Oak Woods! While this reserve is a good 30 minute drive outside of Kansas City, it is 100% worth it for the beautiful trees and vistas in the park.
Check out some of my favorites from Kaetlin & Josh’s beautiful engagement session, and tell me your favorites in the comments!
Congratulations to Kaetlin & Josh!
I’m so excited for your wedding in August. It’ll be here before we know it!
